Northern Ontario Farm Innovation Alliance

The Northern Ontario Farm Innovation Alliance (NOFIA) is offering two bursaries of $2,000 each to individuals pursuing a post-secondary education or apprenticeship in agriculture or veterinary medicine.

The two selected recipients will be invited to the Northern Ontario Ag Conference on February 6 & 7, 2026 in Sudbury, ON for an in-person presentation.

Applications Open: October 1st, 2025

Application Deadline: November 28th, 2025

1. Bursary Funds

   1. The amount awarded for each scholarship is $2,000.

2. Eligibility

   1. Ontario residents who are entering an undergraduate program or apprenticeship program in an agricultural or veterinary relevant field.

   2. Must have proof of enrollment or mentor letter indicating apprenticeship.

3. Selection Criteria       

   1. Residence in Northern Ontario

   2. Demonstrated interest in agriculture and/or veterinary.

   3. Demonstrated leadership and community involvement.

   4. Demonstrated interest in returning to live and work in Northern Ontario following graduation.

4. Method of Application

   1. Apply no later than November 28, 2025 at 5:00 PM EST by submitting a complete application with all supporting documents. The application form is available at www.nofia-agri.com/bursary

   2. Documentation required for electronic submission: (submit documentation to info@nofia-agri.com)

      1. Completed application form

      2. One-page cover letter, addressed to The Bursary Committee and explaining educational goals, professional and academic achievements, and plans of their future involvement in the agricultural industry in Northern Ontario.

      3. Proof of enrollment in program (letter of acceptance or letter from employer)

      4. Letter of recommendation outlining your involvement in the industry and community, and your role as a current and/or future leader in agriculture.

5. Notification of Winners

   1. NOFIA will notify each of the winners during the second week of December and arrange travel details.

   2. Winners will have their names and photos published in print and/or online.
