NOFIA Bursary Awards

The Northern Ontario Farm Innovation Alliance (NOFIA) is offering two bursaries of $2,000 each to individuals pursuing a post-secondary education or apprenticeship in agriculture or veterinary medicine. 

The two selected recipients will be invited to the Northern Ontario Ag Conference on February 5 & 6, 2027 in Sudbury, ON for an in-person presentation. 

Applications for the NOFIA Bursary must be submitted on or before January 15, 2027.

Eligibility

  • This bursary is open to Ontario residents who are entering an undergraduate, graduate, or apprenticeship program in a field relevant to agricultural or veterinary.

  • Applicants must have proof of enrollment or mentor letter indicating apprenticeship

Selection Criteria       

  • Applicant should reside in Northern Ontario
  • Selection will be based upon academic achievement, agricultural community involvement, and interest in living/working in Northern Ontario.
     

How to Apply

  • Apply no later than January 15, 2027 by submitting a complete application with all supporting documents.

  • Submit a one-page cover letter addressed to the bursary committee explaining your educational goals, professional and academic achievements, and plans for future involvement in the agricultural industry in Northern Ontario.
  • Provide proof of enrollment in an academic program (can include a letter of acceptance from a post-secondary institution, or a letter of employment for apprenticeships)
  • Provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher/supervisor/mentor outlining your involvement in the industry and community, and your role as a current and/or future leader in agriculture.

Notification of winners

  • Winners will be notified after January 15, 2027 and will have the opportunity to attend the NOAC2027 conference to receive their awards with their conference tickets and travel expenses paid.

  • Winners will have their names and photos published in print and online on the NOFIA website and social media.
