Northern Ontario Farm Innovation Alliance

The Northern Ontario Farm Innovation Alliance (NOFIA) is proud to present the Innovative Northern Farmer Award recognizing innovation in agriculture in Northern Ontario. One award will be presented to a Northern Ontario farmer with a $1,500 cash prize and an opportunity to present their innovation at the Northern Ontario Ag Conference with travel expenses covered. 

This award is meant to highlight the work of a Northern Ontario producer that has implemented an innovative new technology, designed a new on-farm process or management practice, or simply found a new way to solve an old problem.  Projects large or small will be considered.  The main consideration is whether the project or knowledge could help other producers to learn or improve their own operations.

Eligibility
 

• The nominee must be a primary producer or farmer actively operating in Northern Ontario with a Farm Business Registration number.

• Northern Ontario includes the districts of Muskoka, Parry Sound, Nipissing, Sudbury, Timiskaming, Cochrane, Algoma, Manitoulin, Thunder Bay, Kenora, and Rainy River.

Important Dates

​

• Nominations must be completed on or before January 15, 2027.

• Award will be presented at NOAC2027 on Feb 5 & 6 in Sudbury, Ontario.

Commitment to Share

​​

• Award recipients will be expected to make a short presentation to explain their innovative project during the Northern Ontario Ag Conference in February 5 & 6, 2027 in Sudbury, Ontario.

• NOFIA will cover the winner's conference ticket and travel expenses.
