The Northern Ontario Farm Innovation Alliance (NOFIA) is proud to present the Innovative Northern Farmer Award recognizing innovation in agriculture in Northern Ontario. One award will be presented with a $1,500 cash prize and an opportunity to present their innovation at the Northern Ontario Ag Conference with travel expenses covered. These awards seek to highlight and celebrate the successes being done by primary producers in Northern Ontario, whether it's through the successful implementation of new technologies and sustainable practices, ort the development of projects set to shape the future of farming.

Eligibility

The primary nominee must be a primary producer or farmer actively operating in Northern Ontario, with a Farm Business Registration Number. Geographical scope includes Muskoka, Parry Sound, Nipissing, Sudbury, Temiskaming Shores, Cochrane, Algoma, Manitoulin, Thunder Bay, Kenora, and Rainy River.

Stage of Innovation

Implemented Innovation: The innovation or practice is currently in us on the farm, with demonstrable results or clear benefits.

Project in Development: The project is beyond the conceptual stage and has a clear plan for implementation.

Commitment to Share

Award recipient will be expected to present their innovation/project during the Northern Ontario Ag Conference in February 6 & 7, 2026 in Sudbury, ON, sharing their experience and insights with attendees.
